Is the VFW in Sugar House Closing?
The Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Services awarded liquor licenses to nine new establishments during their last meeting of 2023, but there was a particular detail reported by Gastronomic SLC that caught our eye: a liquor license forfeiture from VFW Post 3586. The location’s Facebook page makes no mention of the forfeiture, so we will be following closely.
Award-Winning Bourbon
I don’t habitually follow booze news, but I do love bourbon, so I was excited to learn that the Beverage Trade Network awarded its highest rating to Bonneville Bourbon from Utah-based Salt Flats Spirits. Cheers to that!
Two-Bit Street Cafe Serves its Last Brunch
The café on Historic 25th Street in Ogden has closed after being evicted from their longtime brick and mortar. A lengthy dispute with the owners of the building stemming from a surprise plumbing bill in November culminated in a letter to vacate the premises by the end of December. Landowner George Pappas III said it was more work to keep the café in the building than it was worth.
