Who To Blame for the Data Center, Parks for Mother's Day, Two-Headed Calf

What's Next for the Box Elder County Data Center?

Backers of the proposed 40,000-acre data center in Box Elder County canceled their water rights application after the state agency overseeing the request received thousands of protests. But that doesn't mean it's over. What's on the horizon for this massive facility? [City Cast Salt Lake 🎧]

A Two-Headed Calf Is Born

An extremely rare two-headed calf was born at a ranch near Parowan in southern Utah, something the family has never seen in nearly 155 years of raising cattle. The calf was stillborn, but the mother survived, and the family plans to donate the calf for scientific research. [Cowboy State Daily]

SLC Renames 500 South

Part of 500 South through downtown Salt Lake City will officially carry the honorary name Dolores Huerta Boulevard, honoring the longtime labor activist and civil rights leader. As Parks Week comes to a close, it’s only right that we dedicate the finale to some of Salt Lake’s most frequent park users: dogs. And with Mother’s Day weekend here, consider this your sign to take your favorite fur baby to one of the best dog parks around the city.

Before You Go

Tanner Park

Tennis courts, BMX trails, Shoot-the-Tube, and 13 acres of off-leash trails — what doesn’t this park have? The downside: It can get pretty muddy here.

Run-a-Muk Off-Leash Area

Not technically a dog park, this off-leash area in Park City is popular for dogs and owners who want a little workout/hike. It includes trails, hills, trees, and creek access.

Fairmont Park

Fairmont’s fenced dog area gives dogs room to run without the stress, if your dog’s still learning proper recall. Bonus: There’s a separate area for small dogs.

Cottonwood Dog Park

Lots of grass, paved paths, and mature trees, which means solid shade in the summer and less mud in the winter. Plus, it’s right off the Jordan River Parkway.

Lindsey Gardens Park

Maybe not the biggest or busiest, but a nice little retreat in The Avenues neighborhood that’s especially gorgeous at sunset. They also have a dog watering fountain.

Thank you to Tracy Aviary for supporting our park’s project. Spring is an ideal time to visit Tracy Aviary. The season doesn’t just arrive; it hatches. Discover what’s taking flight this spring!
