• The temple has been closed since December 2019 for renovations to expand its interior and make seismic upgrades. Church officials haven’t confirmed the cost, but CNN estimates the upgrade topped $2 billion. Impressively, the temple has been through a lot: a bombing, a tornado, and the 2020 earthquake. • More than 3 million people are expected to visit the LDS epicenter during the six-month free open house. Starting April 5, 2027, visitors can see the neo-Gothic-inspired architecture on a 60-minute tour, among other attractions and exhibits. • Plan your commute now because the Salt Lake City Council approved major road closures for the opening from March to October 2027. The closures will mainly impact streets around the temple, so it will be a good time to rely on TRAX to get around downtown. [Axios Salt Lake City]

Utah's Data Center Money Pit

How much funding is the state losing by giving tax breaks to data centers? No one knows — because Utah doesn't keep track. Other states have reported losses between $830,000 and $1.2 billion. Cyclist Death Highlights Street Concerns

A motorist killed a cyclist on 800 South near Rowland Hall in Salt Lake City last week, after the car collided with the rider while turning. Community members have previously complained about speeding in the area. Now, the city will weigh upgrading safety infrastructure there. [Salt Lake Tribune]
