Your Daily Guide

We had a broken link in our newsletter yesterday. Here’s the correct one for our “Local’s Guide to Salt Lake City.”

Happy Friday! Terina here. It’s the final day of our fall membership campaign, and we need to cross the finish line. We need 134 more people to help our newsletter and podcast survive.

Here’s why our newest Neighbor Andrea M. joined:

“My husband turned me onto your pod years ago and I listen religiously. He is a member, so I never became one. I chose to anyway because I want to support your work. I've learned so many incredible things and showed up to events that I never would have known about. I love how passionate you all are about SLC.”

Join Andrea and our Neighborhood of informed, connected, and curious Salt Lakers for $10 a month or $100 a year, so we can keep bringing you this newsletter every day.

What Salt Lake's Talking About

Forest Service Move Blocked

Utah’s Republican leaders criticized the decision, arguing that forest management should happen closer to the lands being managed. [FOX 13]

Utah’s $450K Starter Homes

Utah is falling behind Gov. Spencer Cox’s goal of building 35,000 starter homes priced at $450,000 or less by the end of 2028, with fewer than 8,000 completed halfway to the deadline. State officials hope new funding and partnerships with developers will speed things up, but even homes priced around $420,000 remain out of reach for many first-time homebuyers. [KUER]

No Kings Shooter Will Stand Trial

Matthew Scott Alder will stand trial in the killing of Afa Ah Loo, who was shot at the No Kings rally in downtown Salt Lake City in June 2025. We dive into the case. [City Cast Salt Lake 🎧]
