City Cast Salt Lake podcast host Ali Vallarta here. I am on a journey to visit all 511 parks in Salt Lake County, and I’m sharing stellar finds along the way.

Sledding is not just for the kids, but it will have you giggling like one. Skip the thousand-dollar ski pass in favor of cheap thrills at a local park. Step one: Pray for snow (this weekend’s forecast is looking up). Step two: Head to one of these steep hills!

You’re gonna gain speed on this hill. And if you’re lucky, some kids will have built a jump or two. Keep your eyes open and send it.

This is a good sledding hill with a playground nearby for anyone too shy to fly. Pop into The Garage Grill/Salt Flats Brewing before or after to warm up with a whiskey; it’s technically a restaurant, so it’s family-friendly!

By winter, take this hill on a toboggan. By spring, fly down on a Lime scooter (just trust me). It’s gonna be busy, so plan for that.

I have seen people learning to ski down this fairly steep (and windy) trail between Millcreek Canyon and Mt. Olympus. Hike up the forested path and slide down.

Donut Falls | Big Cottonwood Canyon

When there’s no snow in the valley, the Donut Falls trailhead is the spot. No dogs allowed!

What did I miss?
