If you’re planning a summer wedding, consider a unique bouquet option. Chelbie Glassworks offers a two-day stained glass class where you’ll craft three flower stems. You can either choose from patterns or create your own.

Switch up your usual iced coffee order with a matcha at JJ Coffee. Their spring menu features matcha slushies, matcha cloud (coconut water and matcha cold foam) and coconut water matcha (like a matcha latte with coconut water instead of milk).

If you started your spring gardening and have some extra plants/seedlings to share, head to the Marmalade library on April 18 for a plant swap. The rules are simple: bring some, take some. The library will also have some pots, soil, gardening tools, and plants available.

April is the perfect time to take a guided walking tour with Preservation Utah, because it’s not too hot and it’s not too cold, all you need is a light jacket. Learn the local history behind the Salt Lake City and County building or the meditation chapel in Memory Grove.

It feels like fool’s summer in Utah! So if you’re looking to lay out like a lizard and soak up the sun this weekend, here are some recommendations for every kind of vibe.

: One of my favorite joints for breakfast. I love the duality of their patio — a yurt in the winter, and a terrace in the spring and summer.

: This neighborhood outdoor patio feels like the perfect setting for a morning after debrief with friends.

: Their breakfast menu goes hard, but their outdoor seating goes even harder. Take your pick: courtyard or patio.

: Tucked in The Avenues neighborhood, this sweet cafe has beautiful boutique umbrellas for maximum shade coverage.

: Spotted on the new season of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” their back patio is unassuming but completely gorgeous.

: A downtown staple for a reason. Go during happy hour and get an $8 dollar burger with their signature bee's knees.

: I’d argue one of our most popular sun decks. Fun fact: I once watched firefighters hack a tree that fell on a car while seated here. So I can attest, the entertainment is unmatched.

: A banger right on the 9 Line Trail. This James Beard-nominated bar has great outdoor seating for catching sunsets and spotting friends.

This Sugar House restaurant is famous for their pies. I’m a sucker for the Tollhouse pie, which is basically just cookie dough in a pie crust — a dream.

This pie shop in Pleasant Grove rotates flavors weekly, so you can always try something new. Their lunch special combo includes a pocket pie, chips, and a drink. Don't wanna drive to PG? Try their 

A convenient walk-up window at 9th and 9th, slinging up hand pies. These remind me of elevated Hostess pies, which to me is the highest compliment. Growing up, my mom would go to the Wonder Bread outlet store and always grab me a Hostess cherry pie as a treat.

Offering sweet and savory pies in Park City. If you happen to visit the shop with a person who doesn’t love pie (gasp!), they make tasty cookies, too.

Salt Lake City isn’t the easiest environment for houseplants. Our high altitude, dry air, and winter heating make keeping plants a struggle. But here are a few plants that do best in Salt Lake City homes.

If you’re brand new to keeping a houseplant, 

. It’s drought-tolerant and can handle almost anything: low light, bright light, overwatering, underwatering.

One of the most common houseplants, and for good reason. Pothos thrives in low humidity, tolerates almost any light level, grows fast, and trails beautifully.

These puppies are incredibly forgiving. I have a ZZ plant in a small pot with no drainage, and it’s still growing new leaves. ZZs can survive in very low light and rarely need watering since they store water in their thick stems.

My go-to for a wide selection of plants. Plus, their knowledgeable staff come in clutch when you desperately need some plant advice.

“The menu blends soul and strategy. Jovanna is the chef, and everything is made from scratch — from the seafood gumbo (served Fridays only) to the red beans and rice, coleslaw, cowboy beans, and legendary cornbread.”

“When they first met in the Army over two decades ago, [Kandy and Byron] could not have imagined that one day, they would be creating rosemary chocolate chip cookies, lavender and earl grey mini loaves, and glazed habanero peach donuts in their own sun-filled café.”

“From classic Southern pecan pie-inspired baklava to creations infused with apples, peaches, and blackberries, Rita’s confections have become a unique fusion of flavors. ‘I wanted something that was moist yet crispy, with lots of flaky layers.’”

“Racks are easy to move through, and the shop is ‘absolutely chock full’ of pieces that somehow manage to be both special and accessible. Dresses, denim, jumpsuits, sweaters, and tops run from small through 3X, often in the same or similar styles so that friends of different sizes can shop together.”
