See you at 801 Day! (City Cast Salt Lake)

Mark your calendars for a whale of a party: 801 Day 2026, presented by Rocky Mountain Power, is going to be the Salt Lake event of the year.

Expect a beer garden hosted by Neighbors Bar, live music sponsored by KRCL, a local marketplace, deals all up and down the 9 Line, and a huge surprise: the unveiling of the new mural for "Out of the Blue" aka the 9th and 9th Whale! This is a party by locals, for locals. The City Cast Salt Lake team will be there, and we can't wait to celebrate with you!

801 Day is a new holiday honoring our favorite area code — but really, it’s a one-of-a-kind celebration of the quirks and delights that unite us as locals and make our community great. City Cast Salt Lake hosted our inaugural 801 Day event in 2023, and we're psyched to keep the party going.

What are the details?

  • When: Saturday, Aug. 1, from 5-9 p.m.
  • Where: Milk Block (402-430 East Harvey Milk Blvd. Salt Lake City, UT 84111)
  • Who: Salt Lakers of all ages
  • Cost: Free entry, but we encourage you to RSVP!
👉 RSVP here!

This event is made possible by our sponsors:

What's there to do?

So much. We'll have a local vendors market, live music and DJing presented by KRCL, bubbles and chalk art for kids, and deals for locals all up and down the 9 Line. But here's what you won't want to miss: At 6 p.m., we'll be unveiling the new mural for "Out of the Blue," aka the 9th and 9th Whale, with the Salt Lake City Arts Council.

What vendors will be there?

We'll have a mini market featuring some fabulous local artisans and organizations selling goods and hosting activities:

What's there to eat and drink?

There are multiple restaurants on site at the Milk Block, some food vendors at our market, plus Neighbors Bar will be hosting a beer garden. Also, dozens of businesses are offering local deals for 801 Day all up and down the 9 Line on 900 South (more on that below). We'll have tables and chairs for folks to bring their food and picnic at the event.

What's the 9 Line Business Passport?

We're all in on local. That's why we've partnered with more than 30 small businesses along 900 South to offer special 801 Day deals for locals all day long! Check out the list of participating shops and the deals they're offering, from $8.01 taco and drink at Tandoori Taqueria to 8.01% off at Annata Collective and so much more.

How do I get there?

The Milk Block is on 402-430 E. and 900 S. The 9 Line is a bike path along 900 South, so we recommend biking. There are a handful of bike racks at the Milk Block. If you're looking to take public transit, UTA's Route 9 bus goes up and down 900 South. If you're driving, you can park on the streets around the venue or at nearby Liberty Park and walk or bike over.

The Milk Block is ADA accessible. We recommend you enter on Denver Street or 900 South.

Any rules I should know about?

You're such a thoughtful guest! Here are a few dos and don'ts to remember:

  • DO bring your own food and water.
  • DON'T bring your own alcohol.
  • Dogs are allowed, though please consider if your pup will be overwhelmed by the festivities. We want everyone (pets and people alike!) to have a good time.
  • DO come say hi at the City Cast booth. We love meeting our neighbors!
