The Best Pastries

Posted on October 14, 2022   |   Updated on September 30, 2025

IMHO, baking season is every season, but at this time of year there’s nothing quite like a cup of your favorite tea and a warm baked good. Here are some reader suggestions of the best pastries along the Wasatch Front:

Hey Salt Lake Reader Picks

“If you’re looking for THE best sweet or savory pastry you must try Sagato Bakery at 44 W. 7200 S. in Midvale. Family run and everything is great. Pineapple Pie, meat pie, koko samoa bundt cake, mango tarts — just to name a few. Go now!” — Penny P.

“Highly recommend the almond croissant from Beaumont Bakery and Café in Millcreek.” — Kwynn G.

“The tomato basil croissant (get it warmed up) from Coffee Noir is my favorite pastry in SLC.” — Kate G.

My Pick

The Kouign-amann at Eva’s Bakery. Sweet, flaky, and buttery — what else could you want in a pastry?

Let us know your picks for the best in town. Is there a burger that you’re passionate about? Or a bowl of ramen that you crave?

Tell us about it!
