We’ve been hearing about it all year, but now the election is less than a month away. You just might receive your ballot in the mail this week. Here are some need-to-know details to make sure you’re prepared for Nov. 5.

Oct. 15: By-mail ballots sent to voters
Oct. 22 - Nov.1: Early voting in-person at an early voting location
Oct. 29: Last chance to ask for a by-mail ballot
Nov. 4: Last day to postmark your by-mail ballot

Registering to Vote
To register to vote in Utah you must be a U.S. citizen, a resident of Utah for at least 30 days before the election, and at least 18 years old on or before Election Day. You can register to vote online, by mail, or in-person.
⌨️ Online
In order to register online, you must have a current driver’s license or state ID.
Print, fill out, and mail in your voter registration form. You can also scan and email the form. A physical signature is required (no electronic signatures).
🚶♂️ In-Person
To register in person, visit the Salt Lake County Clerk’s office Monday-Friday (closed holidays) at 2001 S. State Street, S1-200. You can also do same-day registration on Nov. 5 during polling hours (7 a.m.-8 p.m.) at an Election Day Vote Center. Bring a valid photo ID and proof of residency.
Vote by Mail
Mail-in ballots are being sent out Tuesday, so you should get them soon. If you don’t get them by next Tuesday, contact the Salt Lake County Clerk at 385-468-7400 or vote@saltlakecounty.gov. You have until Monday, Nov. 4 to send them back by mail, or to drop them off:
- Drop your ballot off at a drop box location up until 8 p.m. on Election Day.
- Drop your ballot off at any Election Day Vote Center. Open 7 a.m.- 8 p.m. on Nov. 5.
Vote in Person
Bring your ID and either vote early, between Oct. 22 - Nov. 1 or on Election Day (Nov. 5) at a Vote Center.
