Graphic that says Add to Cart: October with a shopping cart and computer mouse icon. In a collage behind, there is a candle in a black tin with white writing that says “Rose Park Salt Lake Clothing Co.”, a pile of pink and yellow sour candies, a red cardigan with lots of small white buttons down the front, a felt folkcraft style pumpkin, and the cover of the book Partita by Barbara Kingsolver.

What’s in my online shopping cart this month?! Wouldn’t you like to know. (Photos courtesy of, clockwise: Harmony, The King’s English, Swedish Moose, Sonderhaus, Salt & Honey)

Because sometimes you just want to support Utah-based small businesses from the comfort of your couch. Here’s what I’m eyeing right now.

  • This felt pumpkin ornament from Harmony is giving me “Over the Garden Wall” vibes. I might even add a pin to the back?
  • I will read anything by Barbara Kingsolver, so I’m excited to get her new book, “Partita,” from The King’s English bookshop.
  • I’m loving the trend of teeny buttons on a cardigan, and this Sønderhaus sweater delivers.
  • Getting into the true spirit of "Candy Saturday" and hygge with some Peach Dragonfruit gummies from Swedish Moose.
  • I allow myself one new candle each fall, and as a proud Rose Park resident, I think I need this one from Salt & Honey. Buying candles online is risky, but I need to represent my neighborhood!
  • Cafe Rio…beauty products? Look, I’m intrigued. Idaho-based Poppy and Pout has teamed up with the iconic Salt Lake City brand. I might have to try the mint limeade-inspired Mucho Mint lip balm. Although I think I would prefer a Tomatillo Ranch flavor.

Trick or Treat Yourself to a Local Costume

Halloween costumes don’t have to come from a big-box store. Here are eight shops in the Salt Lake City area to source your 2026 costume.

Three photos in a collage. The first is a flat lay of a sailors costume consisting of a white shirt, blue and white striped vest, red scarf, and a pipe. The second features three masquerade masks in white, black, and pink, each with a large feather that plumes out the top. And a Lorax costume lies flat, featuring an orange shirt, yellow vest, orange tie, and a yellow beanie with the Lorax’s face and mustache.
