If you’re anything like me, you live for the moments when you eat something so delectable, you can’t stop thinking about it. In this article, the City Cast Salt Lake team shares the morsels we ate recently that were love at first bite.
It seems like everyone online is in their Ballerina Farm era, making sourdough and focaccia from scratch. While I was busy drooling and scrolling, I was pleasantly surprised to find cinnamon roll focaccia at Pizza Nono, and it’s just as tasty as it sounds — pillowy, buttery, cinnamony goodness.
“The best thing I ate this month was the chicken katsu bowl from Comfort Bowl. I first tried it when their food truck was parked at T.F. Brewing, but they also operate out of Square Kitchen in South Salt Lake. The chicken is crispy and full of flavor, the rice is PERFECT, and it’s all topped with a ginger-garlic aioli. It’s so good.” — City Cast Salt Lake executive producer Emily Means
“I had a deadly hangover on Saturday and the best thing I ate this month, that I'm still salivating over, is Roots Cafe's Spicy Peeto breakfast sandwich and hydrator juice. As a certified bacon girl, the spicy sausage on that sandwich was gorgeous, and deserves a medal. It was everything I never knew I needed.” — City Cast Salt Lake producer Ivana Martinez
Grumpy Dough is a new breakfast sandwich food truck on the block, parked right outside of Roots Coffee. While you really can’t go wrong with a breakfast sandwich, I appreciate the unique flavor options like the bulgogi, loaded with marinated beef, cucumber, egg, and spicy mayo. It was rich and flavorful — I had to grab another one the very next week.
