Dough Boy
Those who make sourdough have assured me the process is fairly straightforward — but I have trust issues. Fortunately, Mooon Bread offers sourdough workshops out of Draper, with hands-on experience and expert guidance for crafting your own loaves.
A cheaper alternative: Simply buy a loaf. My go-tos are Mims Bakery, Eva’s Bakery, or Table X Bread. Accompany it with a jar of Amour Spreads jam, available at Picnic Cafe.
Bar Daddy
Many of our local bars use Bar Daddy syrups for their cocktails. I had a cocktail with orgeat (made with almonds) at Copper Common and then quickly proceeded to Central 9th Market to buy a bottle.
Another drink-related hot tip: Follow Flora Fauna Wines if you or someone you care about is a natural wine lover.
Olive Oil
I have something to confess: I’m a millennial, and I’m a sucker for aesthetic packaging. I saw this YiaYia & Friends basil olive oil at Mochi Play Store recently (they also had balsamic vinegar with an equally cute bottle). You can find the brand at Caputo’s Market, too!
Sweet Treats
If you need to get a cake, may I suggest the guava cake from Sagato Bakery in Midvale? It’s got cream cheese, whipped cream, and guava — and to me, it’s perfect.
Another great place to shop is Pirate O’s in Draper. There you’ll find international goodies and a whole wall of unique sodas.
