Let’s be real, December can be overwhelming with holiday festivities, shorter days, and end-of-year hustle and bustle. We’re here to help you slow down and enjoy the very best Salt Lake has to offer this month.
The 900 South Giving Tree
The 900 South Giving Tree is back! Stop by any participating 900 South business, grab an ornament from the tree, purchase a gift, and return it wrapped to the store by Dec. 8. This will help provide presents for students at Edison Elementary.
And if you’re looking to give your time, we’ve rounded up five local organizations in Salt Lake City that are always in need of volunteers.
Eat Spicy Kimchi
Warm up this month by eating kimchi, a fermented Korean cabbage (of various spice levels), that’s good for your gut and packed with flavor. Juju Kimchi is an up-and-coming, family-owned brand that popped up in Provo last month. Closer to home in Salt Lake City is Do Young Kimchi, which is available at the downtown Salt Lake City winter farmers market.
Shop Small for Gifts
Explore a new shop in Salt Lake for holiday gifting this year.
- Books and Supply: Art books and supplies (obvs)
- Mara Shop & Studio: Elevated home goods, both new and vintage
- Millcreek Manor: Curated boutique of art and antiques
- Scents of Wood: Filled with candles and fragrances inspired by trees
- Handcraft Revival: Craft shop that hosts regular workshops and events
Check Out a Holiday Pop-up
You can even make it a crawl. Ivy & Varley always go all out for holidays, and Miracle at Varley is no exception. While you’re downtown head to All Lit Up at Soundwell x Studio. Then, hit up the Christmas Parlor at the Hidden Boot Saloon in Flanker for a little western twist on the holidays. Finish it out strong with Seasons Drinking by Remora, at Drift Lounge this year.
