Summer is here and Salt Lake is absolutely buzzing with excitement. Whether you’re chasing the sunshine or looking to stay cool, here are some can’t-miss things to do in June.
Founded by a wife and husband duo, Sandra and Eduardo, Upstairs Kitchen began as a series of pop-up dinners on their rooftop patio (hence the name). In February, they took things on the road when they launched a food truck with menu items like arepas, sandwiches, and burgers made with picanha and chorizo. Keep an eye on their Instagram for the weekly schedule.
Located at Grove Station in Pleasant Grove, this wholesale flower market is open to the public every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to noon. It’s the perfect spot to grab a unique bouquet for special occasions or a weekday pick-me-up.
You know it’s summer when Main Street in downtown SLC transforms into a car-free promenade. Open Streets is back every Friday and Saturday in June from 2 p.m to 2 a.m. This year features four themed zones (Family Commons, Art Avenue, Village Market, and Restaurant Row) each offering unique activities.
The beloved Redwood Drive-in Theatre and Swap Meet closed last year for redevelopment. But good news: the swap meet has found a new home at the 801 Event Center in Poplar Grove. Many of the original vendors are still there, and the market has grown even bigger. It’s a perfect way to beat the summer heat. They’re open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The 48th annual Utah Asian Festival is happening Saturday, June 7 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Utah State Fairpark. This free, all-ages event celebrates Utah’s Asian communities with food, performances, and artisan booths.
