We asked you to help a neighbor with summer activities for their first grader, and you delivered! It may not feel like summer’s around the corner, but summer activity registration sure is. Here are your picks for the best camps and programs for kiddos:
☀️ “I also have a first grader! The best source is Kids Out and About. They have a huge summer camp and activities guide that lists tons of options. I personally enroll my daughter in the local recreation center summer camp.” - Tracey M.
☀️ “I’ve got a first and second grader. We need all-day camps. We’re doing: Wasatch Kids Camp, Gymnastics Training camp, and Woodward (that’s a super treat for one kid!). We also looked at summer camps at: Brighton, Alta, Camp Wildlife, theater camps, and Studio 56 dance camp. Local libraries also have camps they’ll put on for a week. Just be ready to calendar it all out, spreadsheets are your friend LOL #workingmomlife” - Rachel L.
☀️ “Rock Climbing Youth Camps at The Front.” - Sara M.
☀️ “Sandy Parks and Rec has some great options for programs and activities. We signed our kid up for a fishing club that meets once a week in May (ages 7-13), but there are also skateboarding camps, soccer, softball, etc. This is about the time to schedule though because slots run out quickly. Dimple Dell opens up registration for their summer camp April 1st.” - Riana R.
☀️ “Art Haus camps are also pretty fun. They have a wide range of artsy camps throughout the Summer. Making masks, pottery, stained glass, and a bunch of others. Parker Theatre is a new one for us, but the kids are excited for their camp this Summer. Special effects makeup in the morning, and Jedi Camp in the afternoon, perfect Summer day. They also have sketch comedy and improv camps, musical theater, and a baking camp. I'm more excited than my son to see the ‘Star Wars’ play they come up with during the week. I'll be there, front row, probably in costume.” - Eric N.
☀️ “I organize summer camps for Wasatch Community Gardens! Our newest camp this year is in partnership with Evo All Together Skatepark called Drop In and Dig Deep. This camp will seek to explore the vast overlap between gardening and skateboarding through art, food, and movement.” - Sav S.G.
Thanks for sending in all of your awesome suggestions! We had too many to include in today’s segment alone so we’ll be doing a part two guide to summer programs for kids in Monday’s newsletter.
We also had a reader ask about summer activities for tweens/teens so send me an email if you know of anything good.
