Salt Lake has a plethora of tasty food joints, and brunch is no exception, but I find myself getting in a rut of going to the same ol’ restaurants. Do you do the same? Here’s a list of some of the best, underrated brunch places for when you wanna shake things up.
Silverside Deli has one of the best breakfast sammies in Salt Lake, and they’re always running specials (like the “Kitchen Sink” pictured above). They stop serving breakfast after 10:30 a.m., but you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. It’s one of the few places in SLC that serves a chopped cheese, which is essentially a chopped-up cheeseburger on a sub.
Sometimes a coffee shop brunch really slaps. Kings Peak Coffee is a hidden gem tucked in a side street off of 400 S. They have an excellent cup of joe, comfy seating options, and avocado toast served with tomato jam and goat cheese. Don’t forget to check out their tiny record shop vault filled with jazz records for sale.
I tried Bartolo’s brunch for the first time when I was too hungry to wait for a table at Hub & Spoke (an amazing brunch spot in its own right). I gotta say, I was very pleasantly surprised by how good their food was. I had the creamy baked eggs and blueberry baby “pan” cake, which was like a mix between cornbread and a pancake — delicious. Another time, I tried the grazing board, which is like a charcuterie for “meat and potatoes” people (can you say boi dinner?).
Ogie’s Cafe is a classic greasy spoon diner, with huge portions, that’s been around for over 40 years. Their specialties include a hearty breakfast burrito smothered in green chili and cheese and a veggie skillet also smothered in green chili and cheese (is there any other way?).
