Take advantage of the lovelier-than-usual weather we’re having and go discover some art … but make it teeny tiny. Because we all could use a little whimsy in our lives right now. Here’s where to find some of the best miniature art around Salt Lake and beyond.
Tiny Art Show
This tiny art gallery, tucked into a repurposed stairwell, features miniature artwork, a fun-size newsstand, and a functioning “upstairs” gift shop. The opening reception for their latest Holland-inspired show is tonight, Nov. 7, from 6-8 p.m. Definitely worth the trip to Provo.
Atelier
When they’re not hosting their annual dollhouse show, this curated boutique in Salt Lake City has regular-sized jewelry, ceramics, and home decor. Plus, small treasures sprinkled throughout like ceramic animals by Innerspacism and the teensiest pots and vases by FireDance Pottery.
Free Little Art Gallery
The Free Little Art Gallery is an adorable concept: Each month, a new mini art show appears and stays locked for a few days so visitors can admire it. After that, the gallery opens for anyone to take, leave, or trade a piece of art. Find it in front of 1833 Craft, a new zero-proof speakeasy on 1398 S. 1100 E. in Salt Lake City.
Hand Drawn Photo Booth
A favorite at Salt Lake City farmers markets and festivals is the Hand Drawn Photo Booth, but artist Loren Duzett takes it a step smaller with a miniature version offering tiny portraits and photo strips. Catch Loren at the Heirloom Art Co. Holiday Market this weekend.
Art Vending Machines
The Local Artist Sticker Machine offers rotating, limited-edition stickers designed by local artists. Find these machines at locations all over Utah (and even Austin, Texas).
You can also stop by City of Industry, Normal Ice Cream, or King’s English Bookshop to snag a surprise Inciardi print for just four quarters. Maybe it’ll be the 9th & 9th whale or your favorite character from “The Busy World of Richard Scarry?”
