Think of this as your Hey Salt Lake community bulletin board: a dedicated space for volunteer opportunities, resources, fundraisers, and other ways to help your neighbors.
Redwood Drive-In & Swap Meet
The developer Edge Homes requested to rezone the lot where the Redwood Drive-in Theatre and Swap Meet is located in West Valley for medium density housing. This iconic drive-in movie spot has been around since 1948. Whether you support or oppose the rezoning, here’s what you can do:
- Send an email to West Valley community development director Steve Pastorik at steve.pastorik@wvc-ut.gov
- Let your voice be heard at the West Valley City Council public hearing next week, Wednesday, June 12 at 4 p.m. You can attend in-person or on Zoom.
Food Fight
Food Fight is happening this Sunday, June 9 from 6-9 p.m. and they’re looking for volunteers. The annual event is a battle of popular SLC restaurants to raise money for reproductive healthcare organizations. They’re looking for bartenders, too, if you’re TIPS certified. Send an email to Daniel at daniel.allenbach@ppau.org if interested.
Jordan River Trail & Greenhouse
Help cleanup on the Jordan River Trail this Saturday, June 8 from 9-11 a.m. Volunteers will remove litter and invasive weeds to ensure healthier habitats for wildlife in the area. SLC Public Lands also has a number of ongoing opportunities to volunteer at the greenhouse.
