There are oodles of things happening around Salt Lake in February. City Cast Salt Lake podcast host Ali Vallarta and producer Ivana Martinez shared their ideas to make the most of it. Plus, I share my best bets at the end.
Valentine’s Day
Ivana says, “[Take] a heels class. I think you can do this with friends. It's beginner-friendly … it's on Mondays and Wednesdays so you could take this on Valentine's Day. And it looks like a fun way to move your body, build some confidence, and try something new with your friends.”
Ali says, “A fun way to spend Valentine's Day and something I've done in the past: Send a postcard to everyone, far away or close, who you love. Every time I get a postcard from someone that I care about, I'm over the moon. You could go down to [City of] Industry, you could go down to Atelier, we have all these cute local shops that sell postcards made by local artists.”
Walking Tour
Ali says, “Honestly, it is shaping up to be quite a warm February. Rachel's SLC History is probably one of our most popular local Instagram accounts. She shares facts about … the history of the city. She leads walking tours and you could book a group or a private one and go learn more about the city.”
Crystal Hot Springs
Ivana says, “We have a long weekend this month with President's Day, and I would suggest checking out the Crystal Hot Springs in Honeyville, Utah. It sounds like a really lovely way to spend the day.”
Attend a Market (or Two)
Black History Month Craft Fair at Momentum Indoor Climbing in Sandy will be on Feb. 24 from 11 a.m- 2 p.m., featuring Black-owned/BIPOC businesses.
Sweethearts Makers Market at Salt and Honey Market is happening through Feb. 18. It features Valentine's finds from local makers and small businesses.
Wild Explorers Afterschool Program
If you have kiddos in your life, they might enjoy the Wild Explorers Afterschool Program. In February, participants will learn about Utah’s unique landscapes including deserts, forests, and wetlands. It’s put on by Utah State University’s Swaner Preserve & EcoCenter in Park City for K-5th graders.
What are you excited for in February?
