If you have kids in your life, this is your friendly reminder to sign them up for summer activities. Here’s our guide to programs and camps for kids, tweens, and teens.
👀 Good Places To Look First
- Contact your kid’s school or school district. Often they’ll have resources for summer activities.
- Check your city’s community calendar or rec center.
🎥 Spy Hop
Spy Hop is a nonprofit organization based in Salt Lake City that offers summer camps for youth ages 9-19 who are interested in digital media arts. The summer camps include classes and workshops on topics like music production, filmmaking, video game design, and podcasting (don’t come for us 😉). The programs provide hands-on, immersive experiences for young people to develop their creative and technical skills. Participants have the opportunity to work with professional instructors and state-of-the-art equipment and software. Spy Hop also offers scholarships.
🌱 Survival Youth Camp
Utah Valley Permaculture Classroom Gardens & Greenhouse has a camp that teaches you the basics of how to survive in nature. It includes instruction on herbal first aid, plant identification, farming, and more! Three sessions are available in June, July, and August; Saturdays from 1-4 p.m. Email them directly to register.
🎶 The HERC
They have intensive courses that revolve around the different elements of Hip Hop (no, not this kind of hip hop) — from learning how to DJ to designing stickers. Summer camps are open to children 9-12. Registration hasn’t opened yet, but keep an eye on their website. They usually have camps in June and July.
⛺️ YMCA Mill Hollow & Camp Roger
Mill Hollow is an outdoor adventure camp that explores the Uinta National Forest. The camp offers a range of camp classics, like hiking, canoeing, archery, and arts and crafts. The program is designed for children and young people ages 7 to 17.
