Your Guide to August in Salt Lake

00:00:00

August is the last full month of summer and I’m 😩 about it. With back-to-school approaching, it can feel like the clock is ticking on my warm-weather bucket list. Here’s some of the best ways to take advantage of August in SLC.

Take Me Out To the Ball Game

This is the Salt Lake Bees' final season playing at Smith’s Ballpark. Grab a hot dog and a big foam finger to cheer on our team before they make the move to Daybreak in 2025.

Bonneville Shoreline Trail

Make a day trip to see the new 2.85 mile section of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail opening in Hyde Park Canyon near Logan. There will be an event to celebrate on Aug. 3 from 7-11 a.m. with free breakfast and a fun run. Cache Valley Transit District will provide a shuttle bus service to the canyon from Hyde Park City Hall.

Meteor Meatier

Look up at the stars: The Perseid meteor shower will peak around Aug. 12. For optimal viewing, drive somewhere away from the city lights. Or even better, to a dark sky area. The best times will be around midnight (when the moon sets) and dawn.

801 Day

Arguably, the best thing to do this month is celebrate our area code on Aug. 1. Come out to our 801 Day event at Second Summit Hard Cider Co. in Millcreek. We’ll have live music, food trucks, brand-new pickleball courts, and very cool peeps there! Tickets are $5 and help support Seven Canyons Trust’s efforts to build a new park in SLC.

Tell me, how do you plan to spend the rest of your summer?
