It’s that time again where City Cast Salt Lake helps you plan out your month. We sure hope you start it with 801 Day, Friday (tomorrow!) Aug. 1 from 6-9 p.m. at the Gallivan Center. And here are some things to check out for the rest of August.
Selling standout coffee and matcha with the cutest branding to boot. Find them at the Downtown Farmers Market, Provo Farmers Market, and Sunset Farmers Market in Orem. Or hire them for your next event!
After 16 years as a beloved community hub in Fairpark, the owners of El Asadero are retiring and hosting a farewell cumbia party this Saturday, Aug. 2 from 5-9 p.m. As development reshapes the west side, I’m sure it’s a bittersweet goodbye for owners Margarito Parra and Imelda Morales who have battled ongoing challenges from gentrification to construction.
Salt Lake City’s first member-owned, full-service grocery store focused on affordable, locally and sustainably sourced food. Set to open in fall 2025 at the new Milk Block, the co-op will be open to everyone but relies on members to operate. Help them get to 1,000 new members by Labor Day!
Move over Hailey Bieber, this is (probably) the closest thing we’ll get to L.A.’s Erewhon smoothies. Located downtown and in Sugar House, Tenet was started by the founders of Torrent Cycle.
The Humane Society of Utah is hosting a special cat adoption event on Saturday, Aug. 16 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Lovebound Library, just in case you need a bookstore cat for your home library.
The annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival is something I look forward to every August. I’m biased because I used to work there! But it really feels like a celebration of some of our best local makers, musicians, vintage sellers, and food vendors.
