The longest month of the year is finally over, and now we’re headed into the shortest with arguably the most packed into one, from Groundhog Day to Valentine’s Day. Here’s your guide on some of the best things to do in February.

Your Guide to February 2026 in Salt Lake

Adopt a Pet at the Puppy Bowl

I’ll be tuning into the Super Bowl to watch Bad Bunny, but I’m also watching the Puppy Bowl (adorable puppies running around on a mini football field). Locally, Best Friends Animal Society is waiving adoption fees from Feb. 2-9 and will host a tailgate party on Feb. 7 from noon to 3 p.m.

Celebrate Black History Month

Millcreek Common is celebrating Black History Month with a number of events, including an exhibit curated by Sema Hadithi African American Cultural & Heritage Foundation and family storytelling with Curly Me!.

Honor the legacy of Black bartenders, distillers, and innovators at Black History Legacy in a Glass by Cocktail Collective. And if you’re looking to support Black-owned businesses for Black History Month and beyond, check out BOSLC.

Spend Quality Time With Your Valentine

I’m always looking for unique activities to do with loved ones, especially around Valentine’s Day:

Watch a Groundhog Day Classic

Catch the Bill Murray classic “Groundhog Day” at Broadway Centre Cinemas today, Feb. 2, at 4:45 p.m. and 7 p.m. You can also purchase a double feature ticket to watch both showings, a real Groundhog Day experience.

Attend a Lunar New Year Art Show

The artists at Tomoe Tattoo are putting together an art show inspired by the year of the fire horse, right in time for Lunar New Year.
