Lately, I’ve been making a conscious effort to cut down on waste, and Earth Month feels like the perfect time to dive deeper into the wonderful world of refill shops. These stores are all about reducing single-use packaging by letting you refill containers with everyday essentials like cleaning supplies and groceries.

Salt Lake is home to several standout spots that make it easy to shop sustainably.

A local favorite for good reason. They offer an impressive selection of bulk food, home goods, and body care. Plus, they keep an updated inventory list on their website so you can check what’s available before visiting.

I’ll always have a special place in my heart for Animalia, now Ani-mini-a inside City of Industry. This cozy micro-refillery keeps a curated collection of everyday items. It’s perfect for those just starting on their low-waste journey. They also collect food waste for a small fee.

It’s always a treat to visit this shop in the Maven District. They specialize in small-batch products, using clean ingredients. This is a great place if you’re trying to make the switch to non-toxic beauty and home items.

The owner of fulFILLed started selling refill soaps out of a van and now has a brick-and-mortar in Park City. If you have some gently used clothes you no longer wear, bring it to their spring clothing swap on Sunday, April 27.
