The Best Ice Cream in SLC

I spent most of my teenage years thinking I didn’t like ice cream. It turns out I just wasn’t having the right type of frozen treats. Now I’m a full-blown aficionado, incessantly on the hunt for the best flavor, the crunchiest waffle cone, and anything that will cool me down on a hot Spring afternoon. Follow me on a tour of some of the best ice cream around SLC.

Let’s Get Creative

Doki Doki: This Japanese treat heaven has rolled ice cream and other tasty morsels. Try the cream puff ice cream sundae.

Spilled Milk: We love a specialty food service, especially if their specialty is ice cream. Be sure to try the banana dream flavor in a waffle cone — they make them fresh every day.

The Italian Way

Dolcetti Gelato: Name a better feeling than eating gelato on a hot day. City Cast Salt Lake host Ali Vallarta recommends Dolcetti’s coconut sticky rice option.

Capo Gelateria Italiana: This classic Italian gelateria will make you feel like you’re in the second season of “The White Lotus.” Why not go full Italian and get the affogato?

For the Classics

Farr Better Ice Cream: You can’t go wrong with a shop that’s been around for 100 years. Go for a cup of the wild huckleberry flavor.

Nielsen’s Creamy Custard: It does not get more classic than delicious frozen custard, but I say you should try the root beer float.

For the Lactose Intolerant

If you’re lactose intolerant or just prefer vegan ice cream, the City Cast Salt Lake team spoke to Jill Onofrietti, who runs the Instagram account The Skoop, about the best vegan ice cream in Salt Lake.
