Do you get down with microbakeries? We have some exceptional ones here in Salt Lake. These small businesses often operate from their home kitchens, utilizing Instagram to facilitate delivery or pick-up orders. You’ll find them at markets, pop-up events, or even your neighborhood coffee shops. Here’s a roundup of some of my faves.
PSA: Mother’s Day is next week (Sunday, May 12). I’m sure your mom would really appreciate a special treat 👀
Hana Hou Goodies
I found Hana Hou Goodies at the Strength in Shades market and never looked back. They specialize in Hawaiian baked goods and butters. You heard that right people, butter! Spread some of the ube butter on the mango bread and thank me later. Send them a direct message on Instagram to place your order.
Bedlam Baking Company
Bedlam Baking Co. is baking up a storm around Salt Lake and we’re so grateful for it. You can find their tasty treats on select days at Loki Coffee, Holy Water, Three Pines Coffee, and Deadpan Sandwich.
Lady Flour
We’re so glad Lady Flour took up residency at Baby’s Bagels (which opened earlier this year) so we can get our sweet fix even easier. The cakes come in unique flavor combinations (like banana tiramisu 😍) and are stunning works of art — almost too pretty to eat. Try ordering a mini if you just need a cake for two.
Eats Bakery
Eats Bakery serves donuts, cinnamon rolls, and baked goods you wouldn’t believe are all vegan! Check them out at the Wheeler Farm Sunday Market starting Sunday, May 19.
Pie Party
Call me old fashioned, but I love a good oatmeal cookie. Of course, the pies at Pie Party are to die for, but I find myself craving their apricot oatmeal cookies. You can find Pie Party at the Salt Lake Farmers Market, Central 9th Market, and Culture Coffee.
Honorable Mention: Aziza SLC
Sadly (but also good for her), Menna of Aziza SLC is taking a break. I had to include her on my favorites list anyway. Here’s hoping she returns sometime soon, I dream of her kunafa and baklava cheesecake 😢
