If you’re visiting loved ones out of state or they’re visiting you here, it’s always a nice gesture to give a Salt Lake-specific gift. Here are a few ideas.

Stumbled upon a Great Salt Lake coloring book at The King’s English Bookshop and then discovered they have a whole section of cool Utah books. The standouts?

  • “The Famous and Infamous: A Guide to the Salt Lake City Cemetery”
  • “Historic Apartment Buildings of Salt Lake City”
  • Urban Trails: Salt Lake City
  • “Wild Wasatch Front”
  • “Block Letters Salt Lake City”

Although unaffiliated with NHL and Ryan Smith, Dead Threads Apparel made a Utah hockey shirt with a mammoth and a skeleton hockey player on fire — it’s perfect.

The milk glass mug from Caputo’s has easily become my favorite drinking vessel. Fitting that it’s from one of my favorite places in SLC.

City Cast Salt Lake podcast host Ali Vallarta recommends gear from the Heavy Metal Shop, an iconic SLC gift. They even have onesies for the baby.

Reader Recs

🧂 “Redmond Real Salt! You can get it at SLC souvenir shops but also at Smith's haha. It's mined from an ancient ocean near Redmond, Utah. It's a great gift because it's very ‘Utah’ but it's also very useful!” — Julia K.

🍯 “I like to gift honey since we're the Beehive State! Salt & Honey stocks several local brands. My favorite is the sage honey from Keeper of the B, you can practically taste the desert.” — Emily G.

🔥 “I gift Utah’s own hot sauce, particularly, Habanero Arrow from SLC Fermenting Co. They have been making amazing fermented hot sauce in SLC since 2019.“
