We had a reader ask about the best Salt Lake restaurants to take loved ones visiting from out-of-town, so I rounded up a list of my go-to’s that will have you covered from breakfast to dinner. Here’s hoping you impress the in-laws.
Breakfast/Brunch
- Central 9th Market. The soft, freshly baked focaccia is what makes their breakfast sandwiches, truly, out of this world. Plus, they have a fridge stocked with local goodies.
- Roots Cafe. This is a solid spot with a wide selection of scrumptious breakfast or lunch options. They also have fresh-pressed juices for health.
- Eva’s Bakery. A beautiful French-inspired bakery with amazing pastries to boot.
- Baby’s Bagels. They’ve got your classic bagels and schmear plus breakfast sandwiches, too. The muhammara is their vegan option with a red pepper and walnut spread that’s piled high with fresh herbs.
Lunch
- Oasis Cafe. Try the Mediterranean salad and the Good Hope vanilla tea.
- Feldman’s Deli. Because sometimes a sandwich (and a pickle bowl!) just hits.
- Hanaya Poke SLC. Choose one of their signature poke bowls or make your own. I also love their hokkaido boba with sea salt milk foam.
Dinner
- The Pearl. Everything I’ve tried here has been so tasty. Def try their greens and mushrooms. It is a bar, though, so 21+ only.
- Afghan Kitchen. Impeccable food and service. There’s also great veggie options.
- Los Tapatios. This place does birria and they do it damn well. Order the tacos with rice and beans and a side of consomé for dipping.
- Copper Common. Also a bar, come for the vibes and stay for the tasty food and cocktails (their mocktails are also 10/10). Don’t miss their Sunday brunch, too.
