The weather is getting cooler, and we're heading inside to play bar trivia with our friends. We’ve got a lot of great options in Salt Lake. Here are just a few.

When: Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.

Where: 370 Aspen Ave. in Ballpark

Vibe: Good for a trivia beginner. The format is a mix of picture challenges and word jumbles, no basic question-and-answers here. They also offer a lot of non-alcoholic drink options.

When: Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m.

Where: 239 S. 500 E. in Central City

Vibe: Locals love Blue Gene’s. All participants get tickets to an SLC event and winners will get free concert tickets.

When: Mondays at 7 p.m.

Where: 916 S. Jefferson St. at Central 9th

Vibe: Monday nights are bingo and music trivia combined. For a fun twist, the numbers on your bingo card are replaced with songs. Genres range from oldies to hip-hop.

When: Thursdays at 7 p.m.

Where: 1465 S. 700 E. in Liberty Wells

Vibe: Under 21? No problem. Bricks Corner has trivia nights for the whole family. Plus, they have the best Detroit-style pizza.

When: Mondays (starting Oct. 6) at the South Salt Lake location

Where: South Salt Lake - 2496 S. West Temple

Vibe: Led by Geeks Who Drink and inspired by pub quizzes in the U.K., teams can have up to six players. The quiz includes seven rounds with various question formats including audio and visual.

Tips for Success

  • Arrive early. Popular trivia nights fill up fast, so it’s best to get there early to secure a seat.
  • Assemble your team wisely. Depending on how competitive you are (aka do you want to win??), bring a mix of people with different areas of expertise.
  • Check for theme nights. These are often the most fun trivia nights to attend, especially if the category is in your wheelhouse. Questionable Productions, Game Night Live, and Geeks Who Drink are good resources to find a themed trivia night near you.
