Whether you’re into blockbusters or obscure indie films, the summertime is a movie lover’s dream. The City Cast Salt Lake team got together to talk about the best places to catch a movie this summer. Here are the highlights.
The free summer series is already in full swing and features a great lineup. The movies start at 8 p.m. on Fridays and you can bring your own picnic. Host Ali Vallarta is most excited about “Fire of Love” and “Breakin 2: Electric Boogaloo.”
It’s the summer Sundance edition just for Salt Lake locals. Check out the freediving thriller “The Deepest Breath.” Some of the screenings include Q&A sessions with special guests.
The organization is a “women- and queer-led social club for making friends outside of religion” and they host cool meetups and events around the city. It’s undoubtedly one of the most unique ways to catch a movie this summer.
It doesn’t get much more classic than a summer night at the drive-in. The Redwood opened in 1948 and is one of around 400 drive-in movie theaters in the country.
SLFS pits cult classics against each other, and only one will be crowned champion of the summer. Screenings take place Fridays and Saturdays and include limited edition swag and giveaways.
The genius cinema-pub destination just might be the best place to watch “Barbenheimmer” (the internet’s most anticipated double-feature of the summer). Grab a salty snack for “Oppenheimer” and a sweet one for “Barbie.”
