Seasonal Affective Disorder be damned, this year I’m relishing all that fall has to offer. Here’s what’s on my Salt Lake autumn bucket list.
Enjoy the Crisp Autumn Air
It’s sweater weather, after all.
- Take a hike or a drive to see the leaves. But maybe avoid the Alpine Loop?
- Walk around your neighborhood to see Halloween decorations. Maybe you’ll see the pumpkin house or whatever Daybreak is doing this year.
- Make new friends and join a running or walking group.
Fall Is for Comfort Food
Everything is seasonally spiced right now — from ice cream at Rockwell to dirty sodas at Swig. Travel to northern Utah for the apple cider donuts at Cross E Ranch or the giant Yoders Donuts. And don’t forget to save room for all the soups.
Adventure in a New Town
- Ride the Heber Valley Pumpkin Train.
- Pick apples at Riley’s U-pick or Rowley’s Red Barn.
- For a really good time, check out one of our neighborhood guides.
Learn To Play Mahjong
As the days get shorter it’s the perfect time to pick up a new hobby. Ever since I watched that one episode of “Bluey,” I’ve wanted to learn Mahjong. Well, thank the algorithm for showing me Salt Lake Mahjong Club, which offers beginner lessons, leagues, and open play.
