Didn’t Snag Tickets? How To Enjoy Sundance Beyond Watching Movies

The 2026 Sundance Film Festival starts tomorrow. If you weren’t able to snag any tickets, don’t fret, you can still soak up the fun without stepping into a theater. Here’s a guide on some of the best things to do at Sundance, beyond watching movies.

Attend Talks & Panels

Sundance hosts a full slate of discussions with artists, actors, writers, and filmmakers that gives you a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process. Many of these events are free and open to the public, but are first-come, first-served, so arrive early.

Enjoy Live Music

For a more low-key vibe, check out ASCAP Music Cafe for performances and conversations by artists and songwriters. Or you can party all night long at Marquis Park City with the big names like Diplo, Kaskade, and Anderson.Paak (as DJ Pee Wee).

Explore Main Street

During the festival, Main Street becomes pedestrian-only and features pop-ups, lounges, and interactive spaces where you might score some free swag. It’s also one of the best places to spot a celebrity or two just wandering around.

Sit & People Watch

Honestly, one of the best experiences of Sundance is sitting in a cafe or restaurant for a little people watching and (let’s be real) eavesdropping. There’s a reason a whole Instagram account is dedicated to what was overheard at Sundance.

Or Go Out Adventuring

While you’re up there, participate in one of the many winter activities that Park City has to offer: snowshoeing, skiing, snowmobiling, and even bobsledding. It’s locals’ best-kept secret to ski during Sundance and have the slopes to yourself.
