Even though a lot of things are getting more expensive lately, free resources are abundant in Salt Lake. From educational to health, here are just a few offerings.
Adult Detoxification Services
Volunteers of America offers detoxification services. For qualifying clients, the first 30 days are free of charge. Clients will receive three meals a day, recovery-focused support groups, and a safe place to detox from drugs or alcohol.
Newspaper Subscriptions
As we know, the library is a treasure trove of resources. But it seems like I’m learning about new things I can get with my library card every day. Did you know you can access the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Salt Lake Tribune, and more?
Bonus library tip for all my serial hobbyists: You can also access Rosetta Stone and learn a new language.
HIV Testing
The Salt Lake County Health Department offers free HIV testing for anyone 14 years or older.
Mental Health Counseling
Westminster University has a community clinic that offers free mental health counseling. Most of the providers are graduate students in Westminster’s Master of Counseling program who work under the supervision of a licensed mental health provider. They’re open Monday through Thursday for appointments.
Events
We’ve got a webpage for that! And many of the events we post are free entry.
Do you know of any other resources we could add to this list?
