Your Guide to October in Salt Lake

00:00:00

If you’re a freak for the holidays, October is when it all begins: The festive decorations are pulled out of storage, your iced latte becomes a hot cider, and your weekends are spent at pumpkin patches or haunted houses. Here are the best things to do this month in Salt Lake.

🧀 Culture Club

Here I go again, being Caputo’s number one fan. Have you heard of their Culture Club subscription? Every other month you get a box full of curated food items like cured meats, cheeses, and other accoutrement (fancy talk for dips and sauces). I honestly can’t think of anything better to get me through the colder months.

🍎 Apple Cider Donuts

If your social media feed is anything like mine, it’s nothing but PSL’s and apple cider donuts right now. Cross E Ranch near North Salt Lake offers two varieties of ACD’s: cinnamon sugar coated and glazed. Get it with a hot cocoa or an apple cider slush.

😱 Scary Movie Locations

Utah is the backdrop to many famous film locations, including scary movies like “Hereditary,” “Midsommar,” and “Halloween.” Take a self-guided tour of the sites, bonus points if you dress up in character. Find me at the “Hereditary” house as the telephone pole.

🏚️ While you’re at it, visit the neighborhoods that go all out decorating for Halloween: Daybreak (remember the Barbie theme last year?), Lehi, and around Salt Lake.

📖 City Cast Salt Lake Book Club

Join our book club! We’re reading “Life After Dead Pool” by Zak Podmore, a must-read western water story. The one caveat: It’s for City Cast Salt Lake members only. A big shout out to the 17 new members who joined since our announcement! Do you think we could get another 20 to sign up to reach our goal? Make some new friends and support this newsletter.
