March means the start of spring, when things start to thaw out and begin to grow. Here’s what we’re looking forward to most this month.
Spring and Fall are prime times to visit Antelope Island, because otherwise it’s bug central. The state park is about 45 minutes north of Salt Lake City and costs $15 a car. Grab a bunch of friends, dust off your mountain bike, take in the scenic views, and really revel in its beauty.

If you need a serotonin boost, attend the Millcreek Doxie Derby on Saturday, March 29, and watch wiener dogs race for the gold. The floppy ears and the stumpy little legs are almost too much to handle.
A mobile sauna that gets delivered wherever you are.
It costs $150 for a 3 hour time block or $300 overnight. Personally, I love a sauna. Yes, it kinda feels like you’re being cooked alive, but in a fun spa way.
Join a Club
SLC has a club for any pastime you can think of really: craft clubs, walking clubs, chess clubs. A couple new ones popped up on my feed recently, just in time for Women’s History Month:
- SIS Gathers is a social club for women of color, created by the people behind the Strength in Shades market. They’ll host monthly gatherings starting this month. Keep an eye on their instagram!
- SLC Cookbook Club is a way to meet new friends over a shared love of eating good. It works like a bookclub but with a cookbook, and each person brings a dish from the book to share.
Taking place on International Women’s Day, Mind The Gap is a festival celebrating women and marginalized groups. It features live music and a number of thoughtful discussions. Come see me speak with fellow women in media about the power of representation.
