Get ready to party like it's Julia Reagan's birthday, because 801 Day 2025 is going to be the Salt Lake celebration of the year. 801 is more than an area code; it's about the quirks and delights that unite us as locals and make our community great.

What is 801 Day?

801 Day is a new holiday honoring our favorite area code (sorry, 385; 801 is the OG) — but really, it’s a one-of-a-kind celebration of Salt Lake City. City Cast Salt Lake hosted our inaugural 801 Day event in 2023, and this year we're going bigger and Salt Lake-ier than ever.

  • When: Aug. 1, from 6-9 p.m.
  • Where: Gallivan Center (50 E. 200 S., Salt Lake City, UT 84111)

Expect a beer garden hosted by Second Summit Hard Cider, live music from The Siren Collective, local food trucks, the first-ever Win Win summer artisan marketplace, and more! Think block-party vibes in the heart of downtown. It’s where you and your family will want to be on a summer evening in Salt Lake City — a party by locals, for locals. The City Cast Salt Lake team will be there, too, and we can't wait to celebrate with you!

How much does it cost?

This is a free event that's open to the public, but RSVP now to reserve your spot.

Food and drink will be available for purchase.

This event is made possible by our sponsors:

Who can come to this event?

Anyone and everyone. It's an all-ages celebration of Salt Lake.

How do I get there?

Gallivan Center is in the middle of downtown Salt Lake City, and we highly recommend you take public transit. There's a TRAX stop right outside the venue (Gallivan Plaza), and it's part of the free-fare zone.

If you prefer to drive, you can park at the One Utah Center garage, the City Creek garage, or on the street. We're unable to offer bicycle parking, but you can find bike racks on surrounding streets throughout downtown. Please walk your bike while on the plaza.

Will the event be ADA accessible?

Yes, and we recommend you arrive from the north (on 200 South) or from the TRAX stop on Main Street. While there are many steps throughout Gallivan Plaza, all parts of the event have ramp access.

Where can I find more information during the event?

Please visit us at the City Cast Salt Lake tent located just west of the stage. We'd love to meet you!

Any rules I should know about?

You're such a thoughtful guest! Here are a few dos and don'ts to remember:

  • Don't bring your own booze or food.
  • Don't bring non-alcoholic beverages into the beer garden.
  • Don't let your dog on the grassy areas of the venue.
  • Do bring your own picnic blanket to eat on and enjoy the music.
  • Do bring an empty, reusable water bottle to refill at water fountains throughout the event.

What's there to do?

So much. We'll have a costume contest (more on that below), DJ sets from The Siren Collective, an artisan marketplace from Win Win Popup SLC, a beer garden hosted by Second Summit Hard Cider Co., a dirty soda bar, an array of local food trucks, sponsor booths, and a special proclamation at 8:01 p.m. that you won't want to miss.

What's the deal with the costume contest?

This is an iconic Salt Lake event, so we would love for you to come dressed as your favorite Salt Lake City icon — you may just win a prize. Here's how:

  1. Put together your best Salt Lake-y costume. Here's some inspiration.
  2. Check in with the City Cast team at the event; we'll need your name, number, and email for you to participate in the contest.
  3. Strike a pose — we'll snap a photo of you at 801 Day.
  4. The City Cast team will choose the 10 most wildly creative and entertaining costumes to share in our Hey Salt Lake newsletter and on Instagram the following week, and our audience will vote for the best costume.
  5. We'll announce the winner on Friday, Aug. 8 in our newsletter (so make sure you're subscribed!). The winner will get a Salt Lake prize and bragging rights.

What's there to eat and drink?

Come hungry, because we've handpicked some delicious local options for dinner and dessert:

Plus, Second Summit Hard Cider Co. is pouring cold ciders and beers at our 801 Day Beer Garden, and we'll have a dirty soda bar, so you can pick your poison.

What vendors will be there?

Our friends at Win Win Popup SLC are hosting their very first summer artisan market at 801 Day! Vendors include:
