When election anxiety turns into existential anxiety, put down the phone and take a break from doom scrolling. Instead, seek out opportunities to recharge and find joy in Salt Lake.
Prioritize Your Mental Health
Check this article for a list of resources, including free counseling services, like Westminster University’s community clinic. Talking to mental health professionals can help you navigate through big moments of transition and uncertainty.
Acts of Service
Get involved with causes that are close to your heart. A few of my favorites are Salt Lake Community Mutual Aid, Coconut Hut, and the Mobile Moon Co-op. Mobile Moon Co-op is a farm/community space that regularly offers events and workshops like queer family building and radical reading tea time.
Comfort Movies
This depends on what brings you comfort. Would you rather curl up with “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” or is “Midsommar” more your speed? So many of these movies have scenes that were filmed right here in Salt Lake!

Go Outside
November is all over the place weather wise, but as the days get shorter, I’m heading outside anytime I see a peek of sunshine through the clouds. Choose from any of the over 500 parks in Salt Lake County. Personally, I’ll always have a soft spot for Liberty Park.
