We’ve hit that weird time of year where the weather’s been warming up but it’s not quite spring. Whether you still want to revel in winter or want options to stay indoors when it’s blurry out, here are a few activities that will make you feel like a kid again.
Ski or Snowboard
If you’ve wanted to learn how to ski or snowboard, this is your sign. Most of the major ski resorts have lessons for kids and adults alike. I took lessons at Brighton growing up.
Ice Skating
Not for the weak-ankled, but take advantage of the outdoor ice skating season at Gallivan Center, Millcreek Common, the Ice Ribbon in Herriman, or the Ice Ribbon in Bountiful.
Sledding
While there’s not much snow in the valley, head up to the mountains to go sledding. Donut Falls is a great place.
Museums
Make it a field trip and head to a museum to stay warm. There’s plenty to choose from in Salt Lake, but I love the Natural History Museum of Utah and the Utah Museum of Fine Arts.
Birding
Try winter birding. You may not think this is the season to get into bird watching, but many migrant species flock here during the colder months, like bald eagles, tundra swans, and hairy woodpeckers. Check out this list for some of the best places to find them.
