Your election Qs. (Grace Cary/Getty Images)

Hey Salt Lake readers sent in their election Qs, and we got some As! Check out our website for more info on what’s on your ballot. If you already mailed in your ballot, great work; now, track it online!

💲 Public Safety Bond

Q: “Where can I find [U.S. Senate] candidates’ comments on the public safety bond? I'm torn on how to vote for this.”

A: The public safety bond only applies to Salt Lake County. The candidates for U.S. Senate are running to represent all of Utah, and we’d guess they’re more focused on state, national, and international issues. However, we asked county candidates what they think about it on our City Cast Salt Lake podcast. Listen or read the transcripts for their answers:

🧑‍⚖️ Judge Party Affiliation

Q: “Why is it so difficult to learn the political party affiliations of judges up for election or retention?”

A: According to the Utah Constitution, judges are selected without consideration of political party, so we’d guess that’s why that information isn’t readily available. But you can read up on the judicial performance evaluations for every judge on your ballot to inform your vote.

📨 Damaged Envelope

Q: “Help! I forgot to enclose page two of two [of my ballot] and had to reopen the sealed envelope to insert it. Now, the envelope is damaged. Can I tape it and send it anyway?”

A: We checked with the Salt Lake County Clerk, and they will accept damaged envelopes that are taped! If it’s damaged beyond function, you can pick up a new envelope at the county clerk’s office or a voting center.

🏠 New Address, Now What?

Q: “I have moved in the past three weeks. Will my ballot be sent to my old address or will they forward it to my new address?”

A: If you are registered to vote in Salt Lake County, and you moved within the county, there’s no need to re-register! Call (385-468-7400) or email (vote@saltlakecounty.gov) the Election Division with your name and new address to get it updated.

While the post office won’t forward your ballot, and the deadline to receive your mail-in-ballot at your new address has passed, you can vote in-person with a valid ID and proof of residency (those who moved from a different county can also register in-person at the county clerk’s office or voting center with ID and proof of residency).

🤔 Should You Vote on Constitutional Amendments A & D?

Q: “Do you recommend filling out the nullified Constitutional Amendment questions? Or should we leave them blank?”

A: Although the results for the voided amendments won’t be counted, the Salt Lake County Clerk recommends you fill out your ballot completely. For more on this, listen to City Cast Salt Lake.
