IMHO, Riverton is a little bit country and a lot suburban. I went to Riverton High School, home of the Silverwolves and rodeo cowboys (some students wore cowboy hats and rodeo buckles). Nearby, there was even a field of bison. Here’s a guide on things to do:
Riverton Town Days Rodeo
Riverton is for rodeos. Mark your calendars for the Riverton Town Days Rodeo, June 23-24. They’ll have a skydivers drop, food vendors, and a big ol’ rodeo.
IFA Country Store
If you grew up a suburban kid, you may feel nostalgic about perusing store aisles. IFA Country Store is a fun one to browse. They have gardening essentials including a large assortment of seeds and plant food, cowboy garb, and beekeeping supplies. They also sell bunnies, chicks, and baby turkeys if you’re in the market.
Book & Park
Check out a book (a romantic novel perhaps) at Riverton Library and head to a nearby park. Riverton City Park has open green spaces, playgrounds and sport courts (basketball, pickleball, and volleyball). Dr. O. Roi Hardy Park has Jordan River Parkway Trail Access and a cute lil’ nature boardwalk.
Aunty’s Hawaiian Kitchen
Grab a garlic chicken plate, the loco moco, spam musubi, Hawaiian Sun (preferably Pass-O-Guava Nectar), and save room for guava cake.
Pink Sweets Cafe
An Instagram worthy bakery offering European and Middle Eastern pastries. Grab a baklava and a cappuccino and snap a pic in front of their rose-covered wall.
Are you a Rivertonian? What’s your favorite thing to do?
