The Avenues is the neighborhood where I spent significant time when I first visited Salt Lake, so it will always hold a special place in my heart. The walkability and proximity to downtown, along with the beautiful foothills to explore, make The Avenues pretty sought-after, and at times a frustrating neighbor. Let’s take a lap around the neighborhood with City Cast Salt Lake host Ali Vallarta.
✌️ Places to Get Lunch
This (definitely haunted) B&B recently opened a garden cafe called Cafe 140B. Get the Avocado Toast with an egg, pictured above.
A great place to meet someone for lunch on the patio. The deli counter is pretty extensive, they have three different salmon options.
✌️ Places to Run Your Dog Off-Leash
This dog park is usually off-leash, but with spring flooding, city officials are asking you to keep your pups by your side.
I firmly believe a lot of meet-cutes take place here.
✌️ Places to Whack a Racket (for Free!)
A charming corner that is almost always empty.
The view of the city is incredible.
✌️ Places for an Afternoon Pick-Me-Up
They close at 3pm now, but I love sitting outside on that weird rock with the umbrella and an iced Americano.
The best selection of frozen coffees in the valley. See: the Chai Charger, a frozen chai latte with two shots of espresso.
