West Valley is the second-largest city in Utah and one of the most diverse cities in the country; no wonder it’s a treasure trove of the best food, music, and entertainment. Here’s what you should check out.
What To Do
- West Valley Performing Arts: About a year ago they almost closed forever, but thankfully, they’re here to stay. The performances are incredible, highlighting so much local talent! The next production, “Alice by Heart,” starts June 6.
- Utah Cultural Celebration Center: A community hub of art and music, celebrating West Valley’s rich blend of cultures. Visit their current exhibitions on display including Utah Muslim Heritage: 100+ Years of History and Passage to Peru.
- Utah First Amphitheatre (formerly USANA Amphitheatre): Concert season kicks off this month at this stunning open-air venue. Throughout the summer you can catch Mumford & Sons, Kesha, Keith Urban, Hozier, Cyndi Lauper, and more.
- The Westerner: A true boot-scootin’-boogie with line dancing, live music, and a mechanical bull.
What To Eat
- Island Grinds: In my biased experience, any restaurant that sells Hawaiian Sun is legit in my book. Try the kalbi short ribs.
- Cielito Lindo Cafe: A great choice for Mother’s Day brunch or any day brunch. The coffees are huge and the food is packed with flavor.
- Sushi Franco: Find this Mexican-style sushi food truck in the parking lot of Pep Boys. Don’t miss the camarón.
- West Valley Carnitas: Famous for their chicharrones, fried pork belly — yum!
- Azúcar Café: Everything here is such a treat. Try the chilaquiles, alfajores, and any of their delectable drinks.
