Spend a day with me going car-free. While this guide covers the Marmalade/Fairpark neighborhood, you can easily recreate it by visiting the places along your closest public transit routes. Think of it like a “Choose Your Own Adventure.”
👟 By Foot
If you’re like me, you watched that blue zone documentary on Netflix, and now walking everywhere is your entire personality.
- Culture Coffee. A great place to do some remote work and drink some great coffee.
- Lee’s Marketplace. A hot-girl walk isn’t complete without grabbing a li’l treat on the way home. I’m so happy the Lee’s Marketplace on 400 West reopened.
- Marmalade Library. I could spend all day here; reading books, working on a project in the creative lab, or attending one of their many events.
🚲 By Bike
Conveniently, the Marmalade Library has a GREENBike station, so I can take one of their classic bikes or electric bikes. I would probably bike the Jordan River Parkway Trail and spend the day at either Cottonwood Park or Jordan Park. They both have stations within walking distance.
⚠️ Note: With GREENBikes, you’ll want to make sure to return them to a station within 60 minutes.
🚌 By Bus or Trax
At this point on, the possibilities of where I can go becomes (basically) endless.
- I can take the 223 bus to Ellerbeck Bed & Breakfast for the perfect avocado toast.
- I can catch the Blue Line TRAX at Arena Station and ride all the way to Draper to grab a funky soda at Pirate O’s.
- Or I can ride the same train and get off at Millcreek Station to grab fluffy Japanese pancakes at Kumo Cafe (make a reservation first!).
🚆 By FrontRunner
I’m only a five-minute walk to the FrontRunner North Temple station, made even more efficient by the 300 North pedestrian bridge. If I don’t take it all the way south to Provo or all the way north to Ogden, I’m only one stop away from Salt Lake Central.
- Farmers Market. Taking public transportation to the Salt Lake City farmers market at Pioneer Park is a no-brainer, because then I don’t have to fight for a parking spot.
- Natural Law Apothecary. A witchy shop filled with tinctures and teas.
- Thani Bowl Noodle House. Try the drunken noodles, spring rolls, and save room for a roti topped with bananas and sweetened condensed milk.
